Fancy Lickety-Split Birthday Presents

I had to wait until this past weekend was over to post these bags, because the were birthday presents! These are both made with Made by Rae's Lickety Split bag pattern. This first one was made for my friend Shannon. I was trying for a patch-work/hippie look with this bag. I used 8 fat quarters for this bag that I got from Wal-mart. I knew right away that I wanted to use the red batik material. I'm pleased with the result.
Here's a pic of the fabric laid out as I was trying to figure out which fabrics to pair up:

And here's the final bag, both views because it's reversible!:

Here's my final birthday bag for this month. This one was for my mom! After I made my first one I was showing it to my sister, she came over and started looking in to see how may pockets it had. She seemed to really like it. I knew that I had to make her one. I found the fabric at Jo-Ann's.
Here's both views of the bag:

Here's a close up of the pockets and the buttons I found in my Grandma's collection of buttons:

I have another project to post soon. Maybe tonight if my internet doesn't hate me. :-) Thanks for looking!!

Last of the Fancy Christmas/Birthday Presents

Okay, I'm trying to get all of these Buttercup Bags on here just so I can keep a record of things that I have made. I hope that my *millions* of readers aren't getting bored of them. I promise that I'll start posting different projects soon. I have one other Buttercup Bag to post, but I have to take a picture of it first. I also have a bag that I made for myself that has my first machine made buttonhole!! (hey, I was excited!)

The fist bag here is the one that I made for my sister-in-law Cherie for her birthday. The tote bags I made were for her kids. Oh, I feel I should mentions that Rick helped picked out the fabric for both bags in this post! I had wanted to make the top piece blue, but I learned that blues are hard to match... there are so many of them. I'm happy with how the brown turned out.

First, here's the pretty zipper, complete with a matching pull tab!

And here's the whole bag:I made one for my bro-in-law Mikey to take back to his wife Aya in Japan. I really liked how it turned out.

Here's the cute button I made for it:
Here's the inside:
And here's the whole bag!
Thanks for looking!!

Fancy Birthday and Christmas Presents!

As promised, here's are some of my Buttercup Bags! The first one is my first one at a larger size and my first one with a zipper. It is 129% bigger than the original Made by Rae Buttercup bag. There's a turtorial at Craftster.org. I made this on for my friend Alexis for her birthday! (and I'm excited to see that Alexis is my first follower!! Hi Alexis!)

Here' a detail shot:
The inside (don't worry, I trimmed the threads before giving it to her):
Here's the whole purse! Complete with an extra long strap:

This is one that I made for my sister Rebecca for Christmas. She picked out the dotted material, but didn't know what kind of bag I was making for her. I added the striped material, they were next to each other at Hobby Lobby. :-)

Here's a detail shot:
Here's the interior...the stripes almost lined up!!:

Here's the whole bag!:
